THE WINSTON STORY
In 1967, Tootsie Taxi was founded by Martin Laschever, servicing the
Stony Brook, New York area which
included the brand new State
University of New York (SUNY)
campus. Tootsie Taxi grew to become
a respectable sized taxi company.
Around the same time, airline travel
in the United States was growing.
No place else was that more evident
than in the New York Metro area.
JFK and LaGuardia airports were
booming. In the early 1970’s more
and more customers were asking Mr
Laschever for service to the
airports. Late 1972, Mr Laschever
took a leap of faith and sold
Tootsie Taxi to start his new
business.
On July 23, 1973 WINSTON AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION was born and with
it a whole new industry, “door to
door SHARED RIDE GROUND
TRANSPORTATION to the airport”. At
the time, he had no idea he was the
“father” of a whole new industry.
He was just trying to support his
family. Many people were going to
the airport by taxi’s (private
service), but his was a
revolutionary new concept, never
before thought of.
Our concept was well received by the public and Winston grew as the
service became more popular. Other
operators throughout the nation
emulated our business model and
entered the market to great success.
Today, most major airport markets
have shared ride service to and from
their airports using our highly
innovative business model.
To be the first organization in United States to provide shared
ride, door-to-door service to the
airport is a badge of honor that
Winston is proud of and does not
take lightly.
Today, Winston Transportation Group, the premier transportation
company in the New York Metropolitan
area offers quality service at
reasonable rates. Serving LaGuardia,
JFK, Newark and Islip Airports and
New York City (all boros). Also,
point to point private service to
and from anywhere in the Tri-state
metro area.
Sir Winston, our executive sedan and stretch limousine division,
caters to proms, weddings, Broadway
shows or any event where you will
need quality, courteous, punctual
transportation.

make our service easy for our guests
to use; from making reservations
through our reservation center, to
ease in boarding, and at a cost that

Association (AGTA)
An association of ground transportation operators, airport
authorities, and industry suppliers
dedicated to the continuous
improvement of airport ground
transportation services for the
airline traveling public.
National Limousine Association (NLA)
The National Limousine Association was founded in 1985 as a
voluntary non-profit, tax exempt
organization responsible for and
dedicated to representing and
furthering the international, state
and local interests of all aspects
of the limousine industry. The
association is comprised of
resourceful business people,
regional and state associations,
coachbuilders and vendors. Its
membership includes limousine owners
and operators, manufacturers and
